The Black Dahlia Murder’s 2005 sophomore full-length, Miasma, was the death-metal troublemakers’ breakthrough moment, driven by the hit music videos for singles “A Vulgar Picture” and “Statutory Ape,” both of which have amassed multimillion views on YouTube.
The album might have been polarizing at the time — with some old-school death-metal fans turning up their noses at the band’s association with metalcore and at their goofy sense of humor — but today it stands as a modern classic within the genre.
